15-days bird watching trip through the fascinating landscape of East Mongolia.

Mongol Daguur is one of the most important nature protection areas of Mongolia. Some threatened species of birds live in this place. Moreover 6 of totalling 15 crane species worldwide reside there, such as Siberian Crane, Manchurian Crane, White-naped Crane and Black-necked Crane. These species are very rare in central Asia.

The hilly landscape of the steppe with countless small lakes offers the cranes a perfect place to live. We blaze a trail along the pleasant holiday resort Gun Galuut, where a variety of flora thrive and prosper. Further we visit the nature protection area Mongol Daguur. This area is known as the best place to watch birds. On the way we enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature and immerse in the daily life of Nomads.

• Day 1: Flight
  Departure from Europe to Ulaanbaatar/Chinggis Khan.
• Day 2: Ulaanbaatar
  Arrival at Ulaanbaatar/Chinggis Khan Airport and transfer to the yurt (Ger) camp, after basic course you can relax and take a shower. In the afternoon sightseeing in Ulaanbaatar
• Day 3: Drive to Gun Galuut
  Start of our trip towards the nature reserve Gun Galuut, an area interspersed with small and picturesque lakes, perfect for birdwatching.
• Day 4: Trip to Avarga Toson
  Continuation of our trip to Avarga Toson, where hot springs and a sanatorium are located. The sanatorium is specialised in cardiac in circulatory troubles
• Day 5: Trip to Undurkhan
  Drive towards the provincial town of Khentii Aimak, Undurkhan. After the visitation of the bazaar we continue our trip in eastern direction. Overnight in tent surrounded by the wild countryside.
• Day 6: Drive to Tschoibalsan
  Trip to the provincial town Tschoibalsan of Dornod Aimag, after a visit to a local museum we continue our trip northbound.
• Day 7-12: Mongol Daguur
  We drive to the nature protection area Mongol Daguur (Since 2007 UNESCO-biosphere reserve). We cross the landscape and discover the natural habitat of various crane species, such as Siberian Crane, Manchurian Crane or Black-necked Crane. Overnight close to the lakes Khukh Nuur, Yahi Nuur and Tschokh Nuur
• Day 13: Return to Tschoibalsan
  Drive to the provincial town Tschoibalsan and overnight in the hotel or at the yurt camp.
• Day 14: Ulaanbaatar
  Possibilty to discover the city by yourself. At Night farewell dinner with folklore.
• Day 15: Departure
