22-days tour: "Gobi Desert, central Mongolia and Khuvsgul Lake"
During this journey you have the chance to experience the culture of Mongolia. Moreover you enjoy both nature and habitants. Furthermore you get to know the most important landscapes and cultural aspects of different parts of Mongolia such as south, central and north Mongolia. On the one hand historical sights afford the opportunity to gain insight into the country, for example Karakorum the old capital city with the monastery Erdene Zuu (World Heritage Site) or the archaeological excavation in Bayanzag. On the other hand we enjoy the panoramic view over the picturesque Khuvsgul Lake. All in all this expedition is suitable for first time travelers in Mongolia.
- Day 1: Flight
Departure from Europe to Ulaanbaatar/Chinggis Khan International airport - Day 2: Ulaanbaatar
After arrival at Ulaanbaatar/Chinggis Khan International Airport you can have a time to look around, take a shower and relax. In the afternoon we visit Gandan monastery and the Choijin-Lama museum. In the evening we have dinner and stay the night in Ger camp. - Day 3: Flight to the desert Gobi
Third day introduces us the desert climate of the south, as well as the special flora and fauna of this area. Today we visit the spectacular ravine "Yoliin am" which means "Vulture canyon" in the Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park, where we can hike along the spectacular lump of rocks. The visit of Gobi museum will be the last schedule of this day. - Day 4: Bayanzag
Today we will drive to Bayanzag, where the first fossils of dinosaurs were discovered. In the afternoon we do a walking tour to the "Blistering Rocks. Dinner and stay the night in camp. - Day 5: Tugrugiin Shiree
Today we visit Tugrugiin Shiree, a well -known area for its archaeological excavation of Cretaceous period. We will spot some gazelles if we are lucky - Day 6-7: Camel Riding
Trip to the sand dunes of Molzog Els, visit to nomadic family, camel riding along the extension of Gobi, across the dunes and steppe. - Day 8: Temple Ongiin Khiid
Drive toward central Mongolia to Ongiin River to riparian temple ruins. - Day 9: Karakorum
Continuation of our journey to the historical capital Karakorum of Chinggis-Khan Empire, overnight in camp close to the river Orkhon. - Day 10: Monastery Erdene Zuu
The historical capital city of Mongolia gives us the opportunity of visiting the monastery Erdene Zuu (World Heritage Site) and archeological excavation. They use screen materials of ruins as foundation stones for the monastery. - Day 11-12: Waterfall "Ulaantsutgalan"
Hiking along the waterfall Ulaantsutgalan and the bank of Orkhon in the national park Khangai Nuruu, visit of the yak grower family, preparation of Mongolian cuisine, for example dishes as Buuz or Khuushuur , overnight stay in a Ger. - Day 13: Tsetserleg
Trip to the northern provincial town Tsetserleg (flower garden), sightseeing of the fascinating temple museum Zaya Pandita, afterward continuation of our trip to the stone shipping Taikhar Chuluu close to the river Tamir, overnight at the yurt camp - Day 14: Hot Spring Tsenkher
In the morning we continue our trip toward west, until we reach the hot spring Tsenkher, walk or horse riding through the valley of the Mongol Altai range, in the evening taking a bath in the springs. - Day 15: Great White Lake
Continue toward Terkhin Tsagaan Nuur, white lake, visitation of volcanic crater Khorgo, overnight in the camp. - Day 16: Free day
We leave this day at your free disposal, maybe you like to discover one of the volcanic crater. - Day 17-18: Toward Lake Khuvsgul
Continuation of our trip toward lake Khuvsgul, overnight in the national park surrounded by the picturesque landscape. - Day 19: At the Lake Khuvsgul
Free time, maybe you like to ride across the beautiful landscape. - Day 20: Murun, flight to Ulaanbaatar
Return to the provincial town Murun. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar, free time for the remaining period. - Day 21: Ulaanbaatar
You can discover the city by yourself. Farewell dinner with folklore. - Day 22: Departure
Transfer to the airport and departure to Europe
Weiter in nördliche Richtung zum See Höwsgöl im gleichnamigen Nationalpark. Übernachtung im Camp mit Blick auf den See und eine pittoreske Berglandschaft.
