22 days tour: "Explore the land of the Mongols"
Experience the land, people and culture of Mongolia.
The tour will present two of Mongolia’s finest tour highlights: The Gobi Desert and the ancient capital Karakorum, alongside many other natural and historical treasures of Central Asia. The tourists will also have the unique chance to experience Mongolian nomadic lifestyle and culture, visiting local true nomad families. Venturing through the many different landscapes, one will view Mongolia’s panoramic nature, from interesting rock formations of Terelj National Park, beautiful waterfall of Ulaanzutgalan, lakes and vast steppes, to the icy permafrost of the desert-Yoliin Am, and the steaming dinosaur cradle-Golden Gobi.
Sites of historic significance include: ancient Mongolian imperial capital Karakorum, Mongolia’s oldest monastery Erdene Zuu and other historically important and active temples. Another must-see part of this tour is the visit of Khustai Nuruu National Park, exhibiting the Przewalski Horse, a rare opportunity to see the last remaining wild horses in the world.
- Day 1: Arrival
Departure from Berlin/Tegel to Ulaanbaatar/Chinggis Khan - Day 2: Ulaanbaatar
Arrival at Chinggis Khan Airport and transfer to the Ger camp, 5km away from the capital. After an introduction you can take a shower and relax. In the afternoon we visit the Gandan Monastery complex and the Choijin Lama Temple Museum, complete with a sightseeing tour through the city. Dinner at the camp and first overnight stay in a Mongolian yurt. - Day 3: National Park Gorkhi Terelj
Drive to the turtle rock at the national park Gorkhi Terelj, hike to Aryaval temple. After a picknick return to east valley of Bogd Khan Mountains, foothills of Khentii Range. Dinner at the campfire. - Day 4: Temple ruin of Mandsuschir
Walk along the mountains, the oldest nature protection area of the World. Survey of the temple ruin of Mandsuschir, overnight in the tent. - Day 5: National Park "Khustai Nuruu"
Drive to the National Park "Khustai Nuruu", where a successful rehabilitation program for Przewalski-Horses is realized. These horses are a kind of ancestors to our present horses. Overnight stay in a Ger built for tourists by nomads. - Day 6: Elsen Tsarkhai
We continue our trip to Elsen Tsarkhai and visit a horse grower family at their summer yurt. We have a ride and overnight in the tent. - Day 7: Karakorum
In the morning we start our journey heading west by jeep to the historical capital city of Mongolia "Karakorum", in the afternoon we visit the temple complex of Erdene Zuu (World Heritage Site), overnight in the yurt camp close to Orkhon river, folklore show at night. - Day 8: Hot Spring Mogoitin Am
Drive to the hot spring Mogoitin in the valley of Khangai range, on the way sightseeing at the well-preserved temple "Schank", picnic with a yak breeder family close to the famous graves of the Bronze Age. Short break at Soum Bat-Ulzi. - Day 9: Waterfall "Ulaanzutgalan"
In the morning walk to the holy lump of rocks Saran Khad, in the afternoon short drive in west direction to Ulaanzutgalan, the largest and beautiful waterfall of Mongolia. Overnight you stay in a Ger built for tourists from Nomads. - Day 10: Temple Tuvkhun
In the morning we venture a short trip to Tuvkhun Temple (World Heritage Building) on the mountain top, overnight in tent surrounded by a lovely landscape. - Day 11: Hot Spring Tsenkher
In the morning we continue our trip toward west, until we reach the hot springs of Tsenkher, walk or rideg through the valley of the Mongol Altai range, in the evening take a bath in the springs. - Day 12: Provincial town Tsetserleg
Trip to the northern provincial town Tsetserleg ("flower garden"). We attend the Naadam festival, in the afternoon sightseeing of the fascinating temple museum Zaya Pandita and continuation of our trip to the stone shipping Taikhar Chuluu close to the river Tamir, overnight the yurt camp. - Day 13: Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur
Continue toward Lake Terkhin Tsagaan Nuur ("white lake"), visit to the volcanic crater Khorgo Uul, overnight in the camp. - Day 14: Volcano crater Khorgo Uul
Hiking tour close to the area of the volcanic crater Khorgo Uul. - Day 15-17: Return to Ulaanbaatar
We set out to return to the East. On the way we meet nomads, who move to the best pasture grounds with their yurt and flock. Overnight in a tent close to Tsenkher River and in the yurt at Lake Ögii, we arrive in Ulaanbaatar on the third day. - Day 18-20: Gobi Desert
In the early morning we fly to the Gobi Desert, in the afternoon we drive to the impressive Vulture Canyon Yoliin Am in the national park Gobi Gurwan Saikhan, where we walk through the wonderful lump of rocks. Sightseeing of Gobi-Museum, we continue our trip to the "Flaming Cliffs" of Bayanzag, a world famous site of dinosaur fossiles. We visit a camel breeding family, camel riding is also possible. Overnight at a camp. - Day 21: Ulaanbaatar
After a short flight arrival at Ulaanbaatar you can discover the capital of Mongolia by yourself. In the evening dinner with folklore. - Day 22: Departure
Transfer to the airport and departure.
